I couldn’t eat anything at dinner. The pig got pushed around on my plate. My coleslaw should have been easy enough to scarf down, but it went untouched. I resorted to the eating disorder tendency of simply cutting my food up and pushing it around.

Who would have thought it. After two orgasms, I was feeling tense and uneasy. In fact, I was such a bundle of nerves that it seemed like someone would probably suspect that I was sick.

Somehow, nobody seemed to notice, at least at first. Everyone was awash in plans to go to the small town of Delmont, which apparently had some sort of special market.

“I think I’ll pass,” I told Alice, taking a quick swig of wine.

“Really? Well, it’ll be sort of a girls’ night anyway,” she said. I almost choked.

“A girls’ night?”

“Yep. I have a couple of friends in Delmont. They’re girls,” she said, eyeing me. “Anything weird about that?”

I shoveled some coleslaw in my mouth and forced myself to chew and swallow. “Nope. Sounds great.”

My body was awash in nervous energy. Brandon had stopped over by the table to sit next to Jason and listen to everyone’s compliments on the pork roast. Despite having been neglected for a certain period of time, the roast had turned out beautifully, and the chef was obviously enjoying the attention.

Did he also think only about our experience in the meat shack? Did he want to repeat it as soon as possible? He didn’t even look my way.

Now Alice was teasing me. “Jason is going, too. Apparently he hasn’t done any Christmas shopping. So you could go with him if you get tired of hanging out with us girls. And we’ll all be able to stay the night at dad’s townhouse, so it would be a break from this place.”

I took a deep breath. Jason was going. Brandon would be here—alone. “That’s ok, Alice. I’ll stay in, I’m a little tired.”

I excused myself from the table so she wouldn’t see me blushing.
